There are a number of ways in which you or your family
member may be eligible for immigration to Canada. However, each route has its own requirements and preparations. Review
the following categories for eligibility requirements and an outline of the steps in the immigration process.
PERMANENT RESIDENCE
Before applying for your Canadian citizenship, you must first become a permanent resident of Canada. There are several
categories or classes under which you can apply for a permanent residence visa. Each category has unique requirements and
application processes. Choose the class below that best suits your current situation.
For those foreign professionals or skilled tradespeople who offer skills and experience that would be valuable to the
Canadian economy/workforce.
For those Canadian citizens or permanent residents who wish to sponsor a spouse/partner, parent, grandparent, or child
for permanent residence.
For those foreign business professionals, such as managers and business owners, who are interested in coming to Canada to
establish a business or invest in the Canadian economy.
For those seeking safe haven in Canada due to a well-founded fear of persecution or cruel punishment in their country of nationality.
For those seeking permanent residence in Canada who are already residing in Canada but who would face unusual hardships and difficulties if they were to return to their country of origin
to make application for permanent residence.
For those wishing to appeal a negative design by Citizenship and Immigration Canada or by the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada.

This type of visa/residency has different requirements and processes than those for Permanent Residence.
Typically, temporary residency applies to those staying in Canada for a limited time to study, to work, or as a visitor.
For citizens of most foreign countries who wish to visit Canada, either for business or pleasure, for a limited period of time.
For those accepted for a limited period of study at a Canadian educational institution.
For skilled professionals coming to Canada on a limited basis for work
APPLYING FOR CANADIAN CITIZENSHIP
For those permanent residents who have lived in Canada for more than 3 years and are ready to apply for
