This Business Class category is suitable for those foreign applicants who have a proven record of artistic, cultural or athletic
contributions, or for those with experience in farm management, and are capable of creating self-employment opportunities in these areas.
Applicants under this category undergo a points-based assessment designed to demonstrate whether the applicant possesses the intention and the ability to create their own employment opportunities in Canada, to make a significant contribution to Canadian cultural, artistic or athletic life, or by purchasing and managing a farm in Canada. An applicant to the Self-Employed Immigrant Program must demonstrate that, in the period beginning 5 years before the date of the
application, they have at least 2 years of experience in one of the following: • Self-employment in cultural or athletic activities • Participation at a world-class level in cultural or athletic activities • Farm Management They must also demonstrate the ability to make a significant contribution to the cultural or athletic life of Canada, or to purchase and manage a farm in Canada.

3. Medical and Security Clearances
All applicants for immigration, and their dependent family members, must undergo a medical examination to ensure that they are not
likely to be a danger to public health or safety, or cause excessive demands on the Canadian healthcare or social services systems. Any applicants and their dependents over the age of 18 must also be able to demonstrate that they have no previous criminal convictions.
